It’s not the North Pole but Santa was in the house and there were plenty of gifts being handed out by Ol’ Saint Nick and the staff at Barbourville Health and Rehab Center on Wednesday. Dressed in their holiday garb, staff celebrated Christmas and the work they have done throughout the year.

With visit and help from Walmart in Barbourville, Union College’s Nursing Club, Barbourville City School and people from throughout the community, the staff went room to room, delivering gifts to all of the residents who made the “Nice List.” It was a special moment seeing all of the joyful faces as they opened their presents and also a sight that never gets tiring to see no matter the age.

Afterward, residents and staff ate Christmas-themed cookies and drank hot cocoa before the holiday movie (It’s a Wonderful Life) that would be showing in the lobby. Before Santa left, the residents brought out their inner child and gave jolly old hugs and took photos with him.
